THE IMPORTANCE OF RAW CODING

A strong foundation in HTML is paramount to success in page development. HTML Editors are not perfect, often there is need to adjust the code created by these programs. Design firms require knowledge. It’s like learning math before using a calculator.

THE IMPORTANCE OF DESIGN

Editors enable faster development of web documents, but one must learn and develop sound design skills to become a good site developer.

EDITORS USED IN THIS COURSE

In weeks 2, 3 and 4 of this course we will be using "1st Page 2000", a freely distributed, text based HTML editor from Evrsoft.

Text based HTML editors provide hundreds of features that make a Web author more productive. They do not eliminate the need for a solid understanding of HTML coding. On the contrary: The more you understand about HTML, the more you can employ these features to increase productivity.

This is why we insist on using only Notepad in week 1 of the course. There is no better method for learning the elements and syntax of HTML than raw coding in a plain text editor.
